Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship

Digital citizens recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical [based on 2016 ISTE Standards for Students].

As students build their media literacy their ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using a variety of forms of communication they are also learning to be safe, responsible, and respectful members of a digital community.

All fourth and fifth graders must sign a Seattle Public Schools network use agreement. Our librarian coordinates this signing activity at the beginning of every year.

Common Sense Media is an excellent resource for parents and teachers on these concepts. In library, we will use curriculum from this organization.
