Parental involvement has always been crucial to the success of our program. Parents provide the connecting link between the community and the school, and work cooperatively with staff and students, participating as equal partners in governance as members of the Thornton Creek Site Council. Our goal is to develop a strong relationship between students, staff, and parents, which will create a close-knit, cooperative learning environment that fosters the growth and development of each child.

How do I get involved as a volunteer at Thornton Creek?

Take the Volunteer Interests Survey - Posted Soon!

You will hear about volunteer opportunities through your child's teacher, room parents, the school's weekly newsletter, volunteer coffees, and by completing the Sign-up Genius Volunteer Interest Survey.

Sign-up Genius is your portal! Access this through our link below, or weekly newsletter. Once you have created a Sign-up Genius account, check out the opportunities listed under All-School Events, School Day Assistance, Special Skills and Interests, and TCPG Committees. Indicating interest does not commit you to an event, and will help the event leads connect you with more information. Once an event posts, you will be invited to sign up for time slots and tasks. Your sign-ups will appear on your home page, and event leads will email you reminders.

    Volunteering forms and guidelines

    1. All parent volunteers must complete the Seattle Public Schools Volunteer Application BEFORE volunteering.
    2. Then, let us know what interests you by completing the Sign-up Genius Volunteer Interest Survey (link above). Also, at the top of the survey, click on Show More Sign-Ups -> Fall Opportunities to see more school-wide events.

The key to our success is a thriving group of enthusiastic and engaged parent volunteers with a variety of skills, interests, and availability.

Your volunteer service greatly benefits the school and our students, and will help you build or strengthen your connection with the community. We are delighted to help you find the right volunteer job, and link you to event leads or organizers. Please join us!
