    If you have a student currently enrolled in Thornton Creek Elementary, you are automatically a member of the TC Parent Group! Since its founding in 1991, Thornton Creek Elementary teachers and administrators have partnered with the TC Parent Group to form an advisory body called the Site Council, which makes important school decisions, plans events, and builds community. Close collaboration between school staff and families is a defining feature of Thornton Creek, and is considered a key element to the success of our creative approach.

    The Chair of the TC Parent Group also serves as the Chair of the Site Council. Monthly meetings (currently held via Zoom on the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) of the Site Council are forums for shared decision-making, and all are welcome.

    Fundraising

    One of the major roles of the TC Parent Group is to raise funds that complement Thornton Creek Elementary’s creative approach philosophy, providing for such important features as academic assistants, vocal and instrumental music, arts and expeditions, teacher career development, parent education events, scholarships, and more.

    Due to limitations in place because of COVID-19, many of the TC Parent Group’s traditional fundraising opportunities—like a fall move-a-thon and winter bazaar—will be unable to take place. Instead, the Annual Appeal, a yearly giving opportunity, will need to raise the bulk of funds for the 2020-2021 school year.
