    Principal Welcome | August 2020
    Posted on 08/11/2020

Morning TC 20-21 Families and Care Givers,

I am excited to officially welcome everyone to the 20-21 school year through our SPS SchoolMessenger system. SchoolMessenger allows me to email, robo-call and soon text (they are working on this feature at the building level) to ensure each of our TC families get the same information at the same time in the same way.

While the 20-21 enrollment update is complete in PowerSchool (the District database) and should have updated SchoolMessenger, sometime isolated issues occur (such as an email being entered wrong in the system during enrollment). If this email was shared or forwarded with you because you did not receive it, please contact our TC Admin Secretary at eethompson@seattleschools.org and she can problem solve with you.

    A couple updates for today….

TC Admin Summer Family Update 2 – Zoom meeting for updates with TC Admin

AP Benfield and I will be holding a follow up family Zoom meeting of Thursday, 8/13 from 6:30 – 8:00pm. This will be a similar format where I will provide updates since our 7/29 Zoom sessions, and then Alex will facilitate a Q&A, and then we will open it up to a discussion for the last potion of the evening. Again, we will record the meeting and share the recording with the community if you cannot attend. Below is the Zoom information…

    TC Classroom and School Directory

AP Benfield and I have heard from families how important it will be this year for us to support connectivity between families to support students across our system. To expedite this, Alex and I are taking the lead, in collaboration with the TC Office Team, in producing both Classroom and School Directories using our PowerSchool database system. There are FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations around the private student record information a school can share publicly – so we need your support in completing the authorization survey linked below. We are asking each family to please complete the survey so we know we have heard from you – if you do not want to be included in a Classroom or School Directory, there is a place to mark this in the survey in question 4.  Here is the link…

As we work to finalize classroom assignments, we will work on the production of the Classroom and School Directory in tandem and have them available as soon as we can (I hope to provide some ETAs at my Zoom meeting on Thursday)

    Thank You! – Playground Update

I want to share my thanks with Tammy Heldridge, Tristan Osborn, TC Site Council, Decatur PTA, Decatur Principal Geoghagan, SPS Self-Help Departments, and the fleet of Windermere volunteers who helped move our playgroup project forward this summer. The former sand area (which has been fenced off during the 19-20 school year) and playground beds have been barked, cleaned, and are ready for students to enjoy upon our physical return to the building. I’m grateful for everyone’s dedication in completing this phase – even during these complicated times of COVID-19.
