    From Principal Doug:

There will be no school on Monday, 1/20 to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. TC will be honoring Dr. King at our January Community Gathering on Wednesday, 1/22 from 8:10 - 8:40 a.m. Through this assembly, and conversations continuing in classrooms, we will be sharing as a school why this commemoration is important, honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the work that continues today, and classrooms will be sharing poetry and singing together.

I wanted to confirm that Wednesday, 1/29 has been officially set as the snow make-up day (for missing school on Wednesday, 1/15).

Here is a link to the SPS webpage confirming this (it's in a small paragraph mid-page).

    From the Thornton Creek PTA:

Join the Thornton Creek PTA at this year's MLK March from Garfield High School on Monday, January 20th!  We'll be meeting at Noon at the playground on Cherry Street (just east of 23rd -- look for the yellow balloons).  Further details in the attached flier.

The TC PTA will also host a sign-making party this Friday, January 17 from 2:30-3:30pm in the TC Commons. We'll provide sign-making materials and MLK coloring sheets for all -- plus the first 10 students will receive superhero capes to decorate with fabric markers and sparkly neon duct tape!

Whether you can make it to the march or not, we've got you!  Here's a list of MLK children's books and other resources to explore with your students.
