Fundraising events at Thornton Creek are designed to build community and help children appreciate how their efforts directly benefit our school. In addition to an annual appeal, we hold a walkathon in the fall, a winter bazaar, and an auction in the spring.
The annual appeal
Simply put, we ask you to consider the value you place on our school and to make a direct, tax-deductible contribution in an amount that works for your family. Parents who work for companies that have corporate gift-matching programs can double their donations by submitting a gift-matching form to their employers' HR office. Washington State Employees can use the WA Combined Fund Drive as a means of making their contribution.
The annual appeal takes place in the spring.
Our school’s second-largest fundraiser, the walkathon, is an inspirational, kid-powered event. Students set a goal for the number of laps they hope to walk and request donations from friends and family members—either a flat amount (e.g., $10 no matter the number of laps) or an amount per lap (e.g., $1 per lap). Younger children often walk with their older “buddies.” When the event is over and the number of laps has been tallied, donations are collected and returned to the school.
The walkathon takes place in the fall.
The winter bazaar is a great place to get your holiday shopping done! There is no end to the creativity of our kids (and their parents!). Inside the gym, you’ll find jewelry, candles, magnets, soap, cards, games, gift boxes, comics, calendars, miniatures, hats and scarves, paintings, potholders, ceramics, ornaments, sand sculpture animals, and just about anything else you can imagine. Sometimes outside sellers also participate. All sellers donate a percentage of their gross proceeds to Thornton Creek. Please consider your talents, and make something for this year’s bazaar!
The winter bazaar takes place in December.
This festive, adults-only event is our major fundraiser of the year. The evening includes a silent auction, a live auction, and a raffle—as well as wonderful food, terrific music, and the opportunity to socialize with other members of the Thornton Creek community.
Unique artwork, designed by each class and inspired by their expeditions, is the highlight of the live auction. Come ready to have fun, eat well, and spend some money for a wonderful cause—our children!
The auction takes place in the spring.
