School involvement

Thornton Creek needs you! Here are three pathways for getting involved in our school community.

Site Council

The Thornton Creek Site Council—composed of parents, teachers, and staff—is the governing body of our school, and works to support and enrich its educational environment. Participating in Site Council is a terrific way to get involved in your child’s school, meet great people, and make a difference in the school community. Meetings are held in the evening of the second Tuesday of each month. Find out more about Site Council.

Fundraising at Thornton Creek is unique, just like our school community. Rather than asking children and parents to sell fundraising goods, we raise funds through signature events, leveraging programs like scrip, an annual appeal, and a standing invitation to make a donation. Parents provide the connecting link between the community and the school, bringing experience, ideas, and materials into the classrooms. We ask each Thornton Creek parent to fulfill a 40-hour volunteer commitment every year. There is a job for every parent, skill level, interest, and schedule!
